Bonnie Osgood Honored With DAISY Leader Award for Extraordinary Nurses
'A guiding light' for caregivers and patients
Bonnie Osgood, MSN, RN-BC, NE-BC, nurse manager at Wilmington Hospital, has been recognized with the DAISY Leader Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
“From the moment I met Bonnie in 2008, it was evident that she was a remarkable mentor and leader,” said Melanie Ries, MSN, RN-BC, acute care manager at Wilmington Hospital, who nominated Osgood. “She possesses an exceptional talent for recognizing the strengths of those around her and empowering them to grow both professionally and personally.”
Under Osgood’s wing, Ries learned to flourish as a nurse and team member. Her mentor was eager to share her wealth of knowledge and guide Ries through her own leadership journey.

Osgood showed her the importance of creating an open environment where individuals feel empowered and heard. When caregivers are valued as individuals, Osgood emphasized, it allows for more collaboration and better care for patients. Osgood’s commitment to serving with love and excellence encompasses her team members and especially her patients, said Ries in her nomination.
“Above all her responsibilities, Bonnie remains a nurse at heart,” said Ries. “She genuinely enjoys spending time at the bedside with patients, listening to their stories, answering their questions and advocating for their needs.”
As she has moved along her own career path, Ries carries the positive impacts from her mentor.
“Bonnie’s legacy will undoubtably be the countless individuals she has mentored and developed, leaving an indelible mark on our lives and careers,” wrote Ries.
