The award is presented annually to residents who demonstrate exceptional integrity, compassion and dedication to patients and colleagues. This year’s honors were announced during the ACP’s Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Poster Day and Doctor’s Dilemma competition in early October.

The recipients are:

Mai Lam, D.O., Medicine-Pediatrics

Zahra Manji, D.O., Internal Medicine

Kazuki Toda, M.B., Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine

“Professionalism needs to be highlighted in health care more than ever, and these residents exemplify the kind of physician we strive to develop at ChristianaCare,” said Allen Friedland, M.D., MACP, FAAP, director of ChristianaCare’s combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residency program. “Their clinical excellence is matched by how they communicate, advocate for patients and lead by example every day.”

Friedland nominated Lam for the award; Ajeetpal Hans, M.D., F.A.C.P., director of the Internal Medicine residency program nominated Manji; and Jason E. Nace, M.D., director of the Emergency Medicine/Internal Medicine residency program, nominated Toda.

With 35 residency and fellowship programs and more than 100 years of experience in graduate medical education, ChristianaCare offers one of the most comprehensive learning environments in the country. Residents train alongside expert faculty, care for patients with a wide range of conditions and build the skills to become exceptional, compassionate clinicians.

Now in its 13th year, the Darilyn Moyer Professionalism Award recognizes residents who exemplify the principles outlined in the ACP’s Physician Charter on Professionalism, including commitments to competence, honesty, confidentiality, equity and improving access to care.
