Teresa Mack Celebrated With DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
'An angel in disguise'
Teresa Mack, RN, on the 4W Unit at Wilmington Hospital, has received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
ChristianaCare DAISY Award recipients are nurses recognized for meeting and exceeding the needs and expectations of patients and families by displaying exceptional clinical skills, compassion, calm, respect and partnership.
Mack’s nominator shared that she was moved to tears describing the outstanding care she received. She wrote that Mack not only made an impact on her stay, but on her life.

“She was an angel in disguise,” her nominator said. “She took the time to give me a shower and gave me a sense of normalcy during such a difficult time in my life … She is the best nurse ever.”
As part of her recommended treatment, the nominator needed an IV. She became a bit overwhelmed after experiencing some difficulties, but Mack was by her side to provide comfort and reassurance.
“Teresa calmed me down and explained that it was okay to be upset,” her nominator said. “They would find another way to give me the medications if I didn’t want the [IV] line.”

Mack is currently working on finishing up her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Delaware Technical Community College to better serve her patients. She loves her 4W team and feels fortunate to have their support. “I am so proud to be working on 4 West,” she said. “We truly do have the best team!”
Her nominator wrote: “There is so much I want to say about her and how amazing she was. I want to be sure she receives all the recognition she can for all she has done for me.”
The Professional Nurse Council at ChristianaCare selects DAISY Award recipients using an anonymous selection process based on nominations from patients, families and all members of the ChristianaCare team. All nurses – inpatient, outpatient and ChristianaCare HomeHealth — are eligible.
