Lontoya Murray Honored With ROSE Award

Lontoya (Toy) Murray, a patient care technician from 6S Stepdown at Wilmington Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, has received the ChristianaCare ROSE Award. ROSE stands for Raising Our Standard of Excellence, recognizing outstanding partners in nursing who help deliver compassionate, excellent care to patients and families.

She was nominated by a patient’s wife who cited Murray’s exceptional dedication and compassionate care during an extended ICU stay. She wrote that Murray regularly checked in, managing the toughest jobs with a “kind and loving” attitude.

The nominator appreciated how attentive and resilient Murray was during the hospital stay.

In challenging situations, “she knew exactly how to make the bed and clean up big messes, often sharing her knowledge with others who helped her,” the nominator wrote.

“I really appreciate all that Toy did to help myself and my husband. ChristianaCare is very lucky to have her: She gives so much of herself to the patients.”
