She was nominated by Mary Miles, after caring for her cousin at the end of his life.
“ChristianaCare is fortunate to have Nichelle Belton,” Miles wrote in her nomination. “Her compassion and professional skill cannot be beat. Her care and concern for her patient are outstanding.”
Belton’s care for her patient continued after he passed away, said Juree Hopkins, HomeHealth nurse manager.
“She wanted more than anything to be able to attend the funeral,” Hopkins said, and rearranged her schedule to do so.
Belton is “a wealth of knowledge” and cares deeply for all her patients, Hopkins said, and works hard to help them achieve the best outcomes.
“She is proactive in escalating even the most minor changes in her patients’ conditions because she genuinely cares about their health and overall well-being,” Hopkins said. “I never have any doubt that her patients are in good hands.”
