Kelly White Honored With DAISY Leader Award for Extraordinary Nurses

Kelly White, LPN, has been recognized with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. White was nominated by her clinical manager, Loretta Walls, BSN, RN, Gero-BC, Clinical Manager 

“We are fortunate to have Kelly on our team, and our patients are most fortunate to receive her care,” Walls wrote.

Walls has been Kelly’s manager for several years and says she has watched her grow into the confident, skilled, compassionate caregiver she is today.

“Kelly truly leads by the love she has for what she does and for those she serves. The care that she provides is excellent. HomeHealth can be particularly challenging. Clinicians can feel alone and isolated. Kelly uses all her resources wisely and effectively to make the connections she needs to support herself in providing the best of care,” Walls said.

White’s commitment to nursing is recognized not only by her manager, but also by her colleagues.

“Kelly’s peers often give her shout-outs for her excellent communication with patients, the care she provides and the progress her patients make,” Walls said.

White has worked in health care for more than two decades, beginning her career as a certified nursing assistant and working her way up to a licensed practical nurse.

“Nursing has always been her calling, and she says nothing brings her more joy than making a difference in the lives of those she serves,” her nomination reads. “For Kelly, there is truly no other career.”

The Professional Nurse Council at ChristianaCare selects DAISY Award recipients using an anonymous process based on nominations from patients, families and all members of the ChristianaCare team. All nurses—inpatient, outpatient and ChristianaCare HomeHealth—are eligible.
