“Over the last three days with Jackie, I have never felt more seen in my 15 years as a patient and clinician,” Hamm’s patient wrote. The patient, a fellow health care professional, nominated Hamm after being under her care during a difficult hospital stay.
Hamm was recognized for dedication to high quality care and for her ability to uplift her patients no matter the circumstance.
“Jackie put a smile on my face, made me laugh and was a moment of light in what has been a challenging and dark week,” the patient wrote.
Hamm’s active listening and dedication to follow-through improved the patient’s care and experience. When the patient expressed concerns about their care, she stepped in to advocate for better communication and reassured the patient that the issue would be addressed.
“She helped provide a real solution through her kindness, skill and humanity. She is a nurse through and through and a benefit to any patient she has,” the patient wrote.
To Jackie, she wrote: “You are one of the best nurses I’ve had — on both sides of the stretcher. You are amazing. Thank you for being here when I needed someone.”
