New and expecting local families joined ChristianaCare Union Hospital, home of the Family Birth Center, for a heartwarming celebration at their third annual Community Baby Shower.

The 50 families and their little “goslings” were treated to delicious food, baby gear and care essentials.

Families took home over 250 packs of diapers and wipes, distributed to attendees in partnership with the Judy Center, along with car seats, hand-knitted blankets and play mats. Parents also had the opportunity to tour the Family Birth Center and speak with members of the team.

Alexa Roark and Maximus Gentry were overjoyed to take part in the event as they prepare to become new parents. “It was great to be able to speak with the midwife and have my questions answered,” Roark said. “We also get to go home with all these amazing items and valuable information.”

Local partners such as the Cecil Pregnancy Center joined the shower to help guide new parents through the services they provide and the process of applying for resources.

“We are fortunate to be able to use our resources and partner with local organizations to give back to our growing community,” said Joan Pirrung, MSN, APRN, ACNS-BC, campus president of Cecil County campus. “This event helps countless families receive support as they navigate their parenthood journey and connect them with caregivers who are here to help.”
