Linda Brennan-Jones wins January 2011 Jefferson Award
Social Worker Linda Brennan-Jones, winner of the January 2011 Christiana Care Jefferson Award, consistently goes beyond the call of duty by lending her coordination and leadership skills to numerous activities throughout the year. She has coordinated countless drives—drives for Thanksgiving food, for warm socks and gloves; drives to “adopt a child” or “adopt a family”; and drives to support families and local organizations, such as the Ministry of Caring and the Sunday Breakfast Mission.
Brennan-Jones has a passion for helping others not only as an individual, but as link between community needs and those who want to volunteer. Throughout the summer of 2010, she was instrumental in the successful implementation of a summer-camp project for people still living in a tent-city in Jacmel, Haiti, many months after the devastating earthquake in January. It is well-recognized that numerous volunteers came forward to help lessen the suffering in Haiti, but without the know-how of people like Brennan-Jones here at home, the impact of their good intentions would likely have been far less noticeable.
