Philadelphia Business Journal names Rob McMurray as a top chief financial officer in the region
ChristianaCare’s Chief Financial Officer Rob McMurray, MBA, CPA, is among the 2020 honorees for the Philadelphia Business Journal’s annual CFO of the Year Award.
McMurray was nominated for the honor by ChristianaCare President and CEO Janice Nevin, M.D., MPH.
“With exceptional expertise and dedication, Rob is leading our financial governance through this unique time in health care, our nation and the world,” Dr. Nevin said. “Now more than ever, our organizational vitality is essential to achieving our strategic goals and advancing the health of our community.”
McMurray has transformed ChristianaCare’s financial strategy to strongly position the health system, including an outstanding AA+ bond rating by the global benchmarking organization Standard & Poor’s.
McMurray joined ChristianaCare in 2008 as vice president and controller. Prior to joining ChristianaCare, he was a senior manager in the assurance practice in Ernst & Young’s Philadelphia office, specializing in health care.
In transitioning to ChristianaCare, McMurray said he purposely took his “for profit” experience to a “for mission” organization.
He is board chair of the Delaware Center for Maternal Fetal Medicine, Inc., a ChristianaCare Health Services subsidiary, and is on the boards of eBrightHealth ACO and The Committee of 100. Additionally, he is a member of the Audit Visiting Committee of the University of Delaware.
McMurray received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Temple University and a master’s degree in business administration from Drexel University. He also is a Certified Public Accountant.
