Cheers Award: Safe medicines, safe patients

Christiana Care has been recognized by The Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) as a Cheers Awards recipient. The Cheers Awards honor organizations that have set a superlative standard of excellence in the prevention of medication errors and adverse drug events.

Christiana Care Health System improved the safe use of injectable HYDROmorphone improving patient safety throughout its hospitals. Today 99 percent of Christiana Care’s HYDROmorphone orders fall within the recommended dosing range. To promote proper dosing, standard dosage ranges were established, accepted order sets were revised and a robust educational campaign was conducted.
