For nurses getting certified, a milestone of excellence
Christiana Care Health System honored more than 1,300 certified nurses within our Magnet organization on March 19, which is Certified Nurses Day.
Certified Nurses Day is a national day to recognize the important achievement of nursing specialty and subspecialty certification, a milestone of personal excellence along a nurse’s professional journey.
More than 100 different specialty certifications are represented by certified nurses at Christiana Care.
Board certification of nurses plays an increasingly valuable role in assuring high standards of care for patients. Board certification also folds into one of the 14 “Forces of Magnetism,” which, according to the American Nurses Credentialing Center, calls for health care organizations to value and support the personal and professional growth and development of staff through programs that include formal education, professional certification and career development.
The professional development characteristic that nurses can achieve by becoming certified also falls under the “Structural Empowerment” component of the ANCC’s Magnet Recognition Program.
