ChristianaCare Hospital, Springfield PA Marks Construction Milestone

Milestone marks major progress in expanding access to healthcare in Delaware County

ChristianaCare, Springfield township and Delaware County leaders celebrated a milestone in the construction of ChristianaCare Hospital, Springfield on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. A ceremonial beam signing marked the completion of the structural phase of construction.

Located at 351 North State Road, ChristianaCare Hospital, Springfield remains on track to open in the fall of 2027. ChristianaCare is developing the hospital in partnership with Emerus Holdings, Inc., the nation’s leading developer of neighborhood hospitals.

“This is an exciting milestone for ChristianaCare and the Springfield community,” said Pauline Corso, president of Ambulatory Network Continuity and Growth at ChristianaCare. “This campus reflects our commitment to the individuals and families who call Springfield home. It will bring care closer to where people live, making it easier to access the services they need while strengthening the overall health of the community.

“This moment is a reminder of what’s possible when organizations, community leaders and neighbors come together around a shared vision. We are proud to be part of Springfield’s future.”

“Today’s beam signing reflects the progress we are making toward delivering a new model of convenient, high-quality care for Springfield and the surrounding communities,” said James Bennett, Market CEO, ChristianaCare-Emerus.

“Through our partnership with ChristianaCare, we are building a hospital designed around the needs of patients, with 24/7 emergency care, inpatient services and seamless connections to a broader network of care. We are excited and proud to bring that vision one step closer to reality.”

Designed to Meet Everyday Health Needs

Unlike a standalone emergency department or urgent care centers, the ChristianaCare Springfield Campus will feature a 20,000-square-foot neighborhood hospital that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hospital will include a full-service emergency department equipped to treat common medical emergencies, such as falls, injuries, heart attacks and strokes, as well as a 10-bed inpatient unit for patients who require inpatient care, observation, or testing.

The second floor will house a ChristianaCare Health Center offering a range of outpatient services tailored to community needs, including primary care, specialty care and other clinical services.

ChristianaCare Hospital, Springfield, will open in fall 2027.

Designed to meet the evolving health care needs of the community, the Springfield campus will make it easier for residents to access timely, coordinated care in a setting that is both convenient and patient centered.

Part of a Broader Investment in Southeastern Pennsylvania

The ChristianaCare Springfield Campus is part of ChristianaCare’s continued investment in southeastern Pennsylvania, expanding access to high-quality care through a growing network of neighborhood hospitals and outpatient services. Along with ChristianaCare’s neighborhood hospitals in West Grove (opened July 2025) and Aston (opened May 2026), the Springfield campus reflects the organization’s commitment to bringing care closer to home and meeting the evolving health care needs of local communities.

Together, these investments represent ChristianaCare’s commitment to ensuring southeastern Pennsylvania residents have reliable access to the care and services they need, where and when they need them most.
