Stevens’ compassion and dedicated service to both patients and colleagues led two of her colleagues to nominate her for the honor.
“Sha-Tanya is the first face everyone sees when they walk onto this unit, and every employee, patient and visitor is always greeted with a smile,” one nominator wrote.
When a patient on the unit struggled to adjust to a hospital stay without family present, Stevens took time to build trust and provide comfort.
“Day after day, Sha-Tanya stayed in the room by the patient’s side, talking with them, listening to their needs and validating their feelings,” another nominator wrote.
Her consistent presence provided reassurance not only to the patient but also the patient’s family.
Stevens’ uplifting spirit extends beyond patient care. She is described as a team player and exemplary employee.
“More importantly, Sha-Tanya goes above and beyond her required tasks and is often found assisting nurses and techs with their responsibilities,” one nominator wrote. “Sha-Tanya Stevens is not only an ideal representative of ChristianaCare’s values and behaviors, but an essential asset to 4E.”
