Council of Advisors Honors Nicholas Marsini Jr. and Logan Herring Sr. for Dedicated Service and Exemplary Leadership

ChristianaCare’s Council of Advisors formally recognized two distinguished community leaders whose sustained commitment to service and exemplary leadership has made a lasting impact on the organization and the communities it serves.

Leadership Through Growth and Transformation

Nicholas M. Marsini Jr.

Nicholas M. Marsini Jr., received the 2025 Charles J. Harrington Award for Distinguished Service and Leadership. Marsini built an exceptional career marked by steady leadership and a deep commitment to service.

A longtime trusted leader within ChristianaCare, Marsini served as a health system Board member from 2016 to 2024 and served as Board chair from 2022 to 2024. During his tenure he also served as chair of the finance committee and served as a member of several other board committees, as well as a member of the ChristianaCare Council of Advisors.

“Nick helped guide us through a period of tremendous growth and transformation,” said President and CEO Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH. “He led with wisdom, clarity and courage — always faithful to our mission and always grounded in our values of love and excellence.”

The Harrington Award was first presented in 1996 to its namesake, the late director emeritus of the ChristianaCare Board of Directors and former ChristianaCare trustee, who was a strong proponent of service and the importance of philanthropy.

As president of PNC Bank Delaware, Marsini guided the organization through growth and change while championing initiatives that strengthened the region’s economic and civic landscape. His earlier roles, which include serving as executive vice president and chief financial officer for PNC Global Investment Servicing and as a founding trustee of Fund Vantage, reflect a longstanding dedication to excellence and innovation in the financial sector.

“What stands out most is not the positions Nick has held, but the way he leads — with a willingness to listen, a heart for service and a belief that we are stronger when we work together,” Nevin said. “These values are the spirit of the Harrington Award, and they are reflected in how he lives his life every single day.”

Throughout his career, Marsini consistently placed partnerships and community well-being at the forefront of his collaborative approach to leadership.

“Serving on ChristianaCare’s board was both an honor and a privilege,” Marsini said. “What made my experience most meaningful was interacting with the very talented leadership team throughout the health care system. These folks are extremely dedicated to the mission of the system and truly serve with love and excellence.”

Logan S. Herring Sr.

Empowering People and Communities

Honoree Logan S. Herring Sr., a member of ChristianaCare Health System Board, received the 2025 Carroll M. Carpenter Impact Award. He has dedicated his career to strengthening communities and expanding opportunity in Wilmington, Delaware, and beyond.

The award was established in 2016 to commemorate Carroll Carpenter’s distinguished service as chair of Trustees from 2010 to 2016. It is awarded annually to a community leader or member of the Council of Advisors who closely emulates her vision, leadership and commitment to ChristianaCare.

“Logan’s journey is rooted in a deep understanding of community and a gratitude for those who guided him along the way,” said Tynetta T. Brown, chair of the Council of Advisors. “His lifelong commitment is to pay it forward, empowering individuals, families and entire communities to thrive.”

“ChristianaCare has consistently shown up as a trusted partner in creating opportunities for families to thrive. This recognition is truly a testament to what we can accomplish together when we lead with love and excellence.”

Herring’s commitment to service extends across Delaware. Born and raised in Wilmington, he now contributes his time and expertise as a member of the health system Board and its committees and as part of the Vision Coalition Leadership Team. He also lends his leadership to the boards of the Community Education Building, the Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County, and the McLaughlin Educational Fund (Dream Chasers).

Recognized early in his career as one of Delaware Business Times’ “40 Under 40” and twice named one of Delaware Online’s Most Influential Delawareans, Herring has set a meaningful example for a lifetime of community-centered leadership.
