Karen Halesky-Brown Recognized as Delaware Business Times ’40 Under 40′ Honoree
Social media specialist represents the best in her field
Karen Halesky-Brown, ChristianaCare social media specialist, has been selected by the Delaware Business Times as a member of the 40 Under 40 Class of 2024.
The publication spotlights 40 Delawareans under the age of 40 who are making an impact through professional excellence and community involvement, representing the best in their fields.
A member of the External Affairs Department since 2017, Halesky-Brown has advanced ChristianaCare’s social media presence as a primary communications tool.
She developed strategies and grew followings on established platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest and expanded ChristianaCare’s social media footprint to include Instagram and TikTok, with stories and reels that are informative, motivating and on trend. Since Halesky-Brown joined the organization, ChristianaCare has nearly doubled the number of followers across all channels.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Halesky-Brown was integral in social media efforts to engage the public with timeliness and authenticity. ChristianaCare streamed Facebook Lives with infection prevention experts, hosted stand-ups from vaccination sites and presented other in-the-moment social messaging to keep the public clearly informed about health, safety and changing guidelines as the world navigated the COVID-19 pandemic.
With Halesky-Brown at the social media helm, ChristianaCare has won a number of awards, including the Silver Anvil Award, the highest honor from the Public Relations Society of America, for the #HitMeWithYourFluShot employee vaccination campaign in 2018. Halesky-Brown was also an integral member of the multidisciplinary ChristianaCare team that received a 2022 Corporate Social Responsibility & Diversity Award from Ragan Communications for exemplary partnership and advocacy.
Since 2019, Halesky-Brown has been a board member of SocialMedia.org Health, a membership organization for social media leaders at more than 80 hospitals nationwide.
