Jenn Schwartz Begins Tenure as President and CEO of ChristianaCare

Jenn Schwartz today began serving as president and CEO of ChristianaCare, succeeding Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH, who retired after nearly 25 years with the organization, including 12 years as president and CEO.

“At the heart of all we do will always be exceptional clinical care, delivered with compassion, empathy and respect. That’s what we mean by Love and Excellence,” Schwartz said.

“People throughout our communities deserve exceptional care. They also deserve healthcare that is easier to access and simpler to navigate,” Schwartz said. “That care should reach people where they are and see them not only as patients, but as people — each with a life, a family, worries, hopes and questions that matter.”

The ChristianaCare Health System Board announced Schwartz’s selection in April following a comprehensive succession process.

“Jenn is an exceptional and highly respected leader who has helped guide ChristianaCare through a period of significant complexity and change,” said George Foutrakis, chair of the ChristianaCare Health System Board. “Her deep understanding of our mission, our caregivers and the communities we serve uniquely positions her to lead ChristianaCare into its next era of impact and innovation.”

Schwartz spent her first day visiting ChristianaCare campuses and meeting with caregivers, patients and families.

Since joining ChristianaCare in 2018, Schwartz has played a leading role in the organization’s growth, transformation and long-term sustainability. Most recently, she served as executive vice president and chief strategy officer, guiding enterprise strategy and growth with an emphasis on value-based care, ambulatory expansion, clinical integration and partnerships.

An attorney by training, Schwartz previously served as vice president of legal affairs and general counsel for Lourdes Health System and chief executive director of the LHS Health Network Accountable Care Organization. Earlier in her career, she was a partner at Fox Rothschild LLP and GluckWalrath LLP.

Schwartz earned her law degree, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Denison University.
