Ferraro helped guide the patient through their time in the hospital, according to the nomination. “She cared for me in my time of need,” the patient wrote. “She stayed on top of my meds.”

The patient went on to write that Ferraro’s positive attitude made a difference in her experience. “She is one of the nicest nurses I’ve had since I’ve been coming to Christiana Hospital,” the patient wrote.

Ferraro, a graduate of the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, said nursing is her passion. “I am inspired to help others when they are feeling sick and down,” she said. “I love to see the quality of people’s lives being improved in every aspect and nursing allows me to do this.”
