Ashley Janocha Honored With DAISY Award

Ashley Janocha, BSN, RN, of Christiana Hospital, has received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Nursing leadership recognized Ashley Janocha, BSN, RN, with the DAISY Award for her compassionate caretaking on 5B at Christiana Hospital.

Janocha, who works on 5B, was nominated by a patient’s son who called her “the embodiment of what nurses should aspire to.”

In his nomination letter, the son said he watched Janocha care for his father with compassionate care in the hospital for a week.

“Ashley not only exhibited the utmost professionalism, but she also showed compassion and kindness towards my father — which we firmly believe helped keep his spirits up and assisted with his road to recovery.

“After decades of being a full-time caretaker, I fully realize that nursing and taking care of another individual is not an easy job, in particular day in and day out.”

Janocha earned an associate degree in nursing at Delaware Technical Community College in 2020 and received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Capella University in 2022. She started at ChristianaCare in September 2022.

Ashley Janocha joined ChristianaCare in September 2022.

The patient’s son said his father has been in the hospital several times over the years. During that time, his family has seen several health care professionals care for his father. Janocha left the biggest impression.

“Ashley was informative, attentive and we felt she genuinely exhibited the qualities of nursing excellence to the highest degree.”
