Damarilly Sanchez Honored With ROSE Award
Procedure area technician Damarilly Sanchez, of the Wilmington Campus, has received the ChristianaCare ROSE Award. ROSE stands for Raising Our Standard of Excellence, recognizing outstanding partners in nursing who help deliver compassionate, excellent care to patients and families.
“Dee is the embodiment of the ROSE award and it is my honor to nominate her,” wrote perioperative nurse Shannon Smart, BSN, RN, CNOR, in her nomination.
“I am thankful to work with such a hardworking, intelligent and kind individual. As a hospital, we are lucky to have someone like her working here.”
In her nomination, Smart recalled a particular moment that exemplified Sanchez’s work ethic. “I had a STAT lab that needed to go out but no one in my area was able to respond,” Smart wrote. “Dee heard my overhead page. Even though she wasn’t assigned to my room or even the core, she came over to take the specimen to the laboratory.
“It may seem like a small task, but little things add up — and time under anesthesia can make a difference in a patient’s recovery.”
Sanchez is attentive to the details of her work, ensuring that patients are properly prepped and all critical equipment is in the room, Smart wrote. She is also gentle and caring with patients, able to anticipate their needs “without a single word,” Smart wrote.
“We have mere minutes to make a patient feel comfortable in our presence,” Smart wrote. “It takes Dee mere seconds.”
