Meredith Farone Honored With DAISY Award
Meredith Farone, BSN, RN, of ChristianaCare’s Holloway Community Program in Smyrna, Delaware, received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for July.
Highlighted by a patient for being part of the “A-Team” at ChristianaCare, Farone earned thanks and the DAISY nomination for her compassionate, personal approach.
“Meredith has stuck by me and helped me by going the extra mile and has saved my life,” the patient wrote in her nomination. “My viral load numbers are now almost undetectable for the first time in over 10 years.”
The patient is grateful that Farone called her each morning with a reminder to take her medication. She also took time to listen.
“I love to come [to the clinic] because I know Meredith and the team care about me,” the nomination read. “My physical and mental health have gotten better since Meredith has been helping me. I feel good!”
The Professional Nurse Council at ChristianaCare selects DAISY Award recipients using an anonymous process based on nominations from patients, families and all members of the ChristianaCare team. All nurses — inpatient, outpatient and ChristianaCare HomeHealth — are eligible.
