Cathy Kelly Named Director of Hospital-Based Rehabilitation Services

Cathy Kelly, MML, MS, OTR/L, has been appointed director of hospital-based Rehabilitation Services. In this role, she will be responsible for inpatient services at Christiana and Wilmington hospitals, including acute care services and inpatient rehabilitation at the Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital.
Kelly has been with ChristianaCare for 33 years. She joined the organization as an occupational therapist and has held several leadership positions, including clinical supervisor of Occupational Therapy at Christiana Hospital, outpatient coordinator for the Stroke and Brain Injury Program, and for the last 10 years, program manager of Occupational Therapy and Recreational Therapy for both Christiana and Wilmington hospitals.
As a leader in operations and clinical excellence, Kelly excels in management of daily operations, meeting and exceeding financial and productivity benchmarks and developing caregivers. Among the recent accomplishments she led are seating protocols for critically ill persons, the reflex cushion study and decreasing pressure injuries utilizing tilt in space wheelchairs in the spinal cord injury population, which won the 2019 Magnet ChristianaCare Way Award.
Kelly received a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from Thomas Jefferson University and a master’s degree in management and leadership from Immaculata University. Effective Oct. 31, she will report to Jennifer Thomas, vice president of Rehabilitation.
