James Ley, M.D., Named Medical Director, Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center

James S. Ley, M.D., has been appointed medical director of ChristianaCare’s Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine Center.
In this role, Dr. Ley is responsible for ensuring high quality patient care, mentoring the interdisciplinary care team and promoting services. The Center has two locations – at the Riverside Medical Arts Complex and Cecil County Campus – focused on healing wounds, determining their cause and addressing barriers to healing.
Dr. Ley is a highly experienced wound care physician and infectious disease specialist. He began at the Christiana Care Riverside location in 1999. Starting in 2009, he practiced at the Union Hospital Wound Care Center and became medical director there.
Dr. Ley received his M.D. from the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and his Infectious Disease fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
He has served in various roles including chair of Internal Medicine and chair of Infection Control at Union Hospital. He has been a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Union Hospital, and the Performance Improvement Committee at Christiana Hospital. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and received Union Hospital’s Physician of the Year award in 2014; Union’s Physician Quality Award in 2018; and a Delaware Top Docs recognition in 2020.
