Tabassum Salam, M.D., Named Chief Learning Officer
Tabassum Salam, M.D., MBA, FACP, has been appointed chief learning officer for ChristianaCare, starting July 6. In this role, Dr. Salam will oversee the strategic direction and activities of the Institute for Learning Leadership and Development (iLEAD) to ensure the department’s alignment with ChristianaCare’s goals and priorities. She will lead efforts to continue promoting ChristianaCare as a true learning organization skilled at creating, acquiring and transferring knowledge by embracing systems thinking, continuous learning and interprofessional collaboration.
She joined ChristianaCare in 2001, serving in clinical and academic leadership positions: Fourth-Year Medical Student Sub-Internship director; assistant program director; associate program director for Curriculum Development; chair of the Continuing Medical Education Committee for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and Department of Internal Medicine; Internal Medicine physician in Ambulatory and Hospital Care for the Medical Group; medical director for Patient and Family Health Education; medical director for CareVio Services; and senior physician advisor for the Department of Quality, Safety & Population Health.
In 2018, Dr. Salam started working for the American College of Physicians where she served as vice president in the Division of Medical Education and led the team that produces the Internal Medicine In-Training Exam.
Dr. Salam is an internal medicine physician who completed her medical education at the University of Pennsylvania. She completed her residency training at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, where she also served as chief resident. She has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania; has multiple awards and publications; and presents lectures at regional and national levels.
She reports to Chief People Officer Neil Jasani, M.D., MBA, FACEP.
