Robert Stadter Honored with DAISY Award
Robert Stadter, BS, ADN, RN, of ChristianaCare’s Nursing Float Pool, received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in March. The award presentation held an extra surprise as Stadter’s mother, a ChristianaCare nurse, and his sister, a nursing student, attended.
While caring for his patient, Stadter made the family feel comfortable, thoroughly answered their questions and stayed by their side. The DAISY nomination is from a patient’s daughter who described Stadter’s skilled, compassionate care for her father and their family.
“That ‘cool dude’ is what my dad called him in his final hours of life, but I called him an amazing nurse,” she wrote in her nomination.
“Human connection and compassion are so important for nurses in today’s world and Robert is one of the best nurses I have encountered.
“He thanked us for allowing him to take care of our dad. He knew how to delicately guide our emotions during the dying process. He talked to us at eye level in a comforting and compassionate tone while being skilled enough to stand gracefully near the IV pump, adjust the morphine, silence the alarms and count respirations.
The Professional Nurse Council at ChristianaCare selects DAISY Award recipients using an anonymous process based on nominations from patients, families and all members of the ChristianaCare team. All nurses — inpatient, outpatient and ChristianaCare HomeHealth — are eligible.
