Corinne Banter Honored with DAISY Award
Corinne Banter, BSN, BS, RN, a charge nurse with Christiana Hospital’s unit 7E, received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in December 2020.
After the procedure, the patient experienced pain that did not abate with the prescribed medication. When Banter arrived, she listened carefully to the patient’s concern and immediately contacted her physician. Within hours, the patient was comfortable. The DAISY nomination from a patient who came to ChristianaCare for back surgery described how Banter helped her through recovery.
“Corinne constantly checked on me which made me feel like a dear friend was with me,” the patient wrote in her nomination. This was especially meaningful because of COVID safety measures that restricted family and friend visits.
“Corinne exhibited a certain compassion and intuitive nature that made me feel very relaxed. For this I am extremely thankful.”
The Professional Nurse Council at ChristianaCare selects DAISY Award recipients using an anonymous process based on nominations from patients, families and all members of the ChristianaCare team. All nurses — inpatient, outpatient and ChristianaCare HomeHealth — are eligible.
