Cheryl Fragier, CNA, of ChristianaCare, Union Hospital’s Behavioral Health Unit, received the Sunflower Award in December 2020.
Sunflower Award recipients are certified nursing Assistants or unit clerks who have given exceptional care to patients. Recipients of this award also exemplify the kind of person that patients, their families, and fellow caregivers see as an outstanding role model.
The Sunflower nomination was submitted by a patient who appreciated the kindness and respect Fragier gave her. “Cheryl always treated me as a human being—I didn’t feel judged,” the nomination read.
“She went above and beyond to aid in my discharge planning. Cheryl has something that is far too often overlooked, which is the ability to connect with patients without exuding a sense of superiority. She spoke with the utmost respect regarding this facility as a whole, and the Behavioral Health Unit in particular.”
