Excellence in Nursing Awards celebrate our outstanding caregivers

The annual Excellence in Nursing Awards, organized by ChristianaCare’s Professional Nurse Council, spotlight exceptional nurses at ChristianaCare. The awards normally are announced at a sizable gathering at the John H. Ammon Medical Education Center in early May during National Nurses Week. This year, to adhere to social distancing during COVID-19, the awards were presented individually.

“Each of these nurses was nominated by a colleague for being exceptional,” said Professional Nurse Council Chair Lydia Butcofsky, MA, BSN, RN III, CEN.

“These nurses are leaders who guide novice nurses and interdisciplinary caregivers, embrace change and help others through hard days. They bring a level of love and excellence that is inspiring and I am humbled to be able to congratulate them,” she said.

“The Excellence in Nursing Awards program is the highlight of our Nurses Week celebration at ChristianaCare,” said Ric Cuming, Ed.D., RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, chief nurse executive, and president, ChristianaCare HomeHealth.

“These dedicated, exemplary nursing professionals serve with excellence and love, in sunshine and stormy weather, as the past three months clearly demonstrate. Words can hardly express the gratitude and appreciation nurses deserve for their hard work and courage. Thank you to all of them, and to the Professional Nurse Council for spotlighting our extraordinary nurses under these extraordinary circumstances.”
