Chief Nurse Executive Ric Cuming, Ed.D., RN, appointed president, ChristianaCare HomeHealth
Ric Cuming, Ed.D., MSN, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, chief nurse executive at ChristianaCare, has been named president of ChristianaCare HomeHealth. He will serve in both capacities.
He has served as interim president of ChristianaCare HomeHealth since July 2019.
The home health service, formerly the ChristianaCare Visiting Nurse Association, has more than 600 home-based caregivers making nearly 300,000 home visits annually, supported by office-based teams. With more than 8,000 patients, ChristianaCare HomeHealth is the highest-volume home health agency in Delaware and among the top 1% in volume in the U.S.
Since joining ChristianaCare in 2016, Cuming has led the organization’s Magnet-designated nursing staff in setting strategic imperatives, advising leadership on best practices in nursing, establishing nursing policies and procedures, overseeing nursing research and creating a collaborative environment to ensure evidence-based care practices.
A highly experienced and nationally respected nurse leader, Cuming joined ChristianaCare from Einstein Healthcare Network where he was chief nurse executive and vice president for Health Care Services.
Cuming is board certified as an Advanced Nurse Executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. He sits on the board of trustees of the AORN Foundation of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses and is a member of professional organizations including the American Nurses Association and the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.
Cuming is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and an alumnus of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Executive Nurse Fellowship Program. He earned his diploma of collegial studies in nursing at John Abbott College in Montreal, Canada; his BSN from the University of Ottawa; his MSN from the University of Miami; and his doctorate in adult education and human resource development from Florida International University.
He presents and publishes on nurse empowerment, nurse leadership and evidence-based nursing practice.
He reports to President and CEO Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH.
