Christiana Care hosted the community at the Eugene du Pont Preventive Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute on Kennett Pike in Wilmington for a Health, Wellness and Family Fun fair on May 18.

On a picture-perfect day, community members of all ages stopped by for free health screenings with Christiana Care caregivers, kids worked off some energy in a moonbounce and families learned about Christiana Care’s expanded services now available at the Preventive Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute.

The renovated Preventive Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute reopened in December after a year-long, major redo that introduced new and upgraded services, including:

Among the expert caregivers at the fair sharing tips on prevention and maintaining good health were OB/GYN Lindsey Davis, M.D., MPH, on women’s health; physical therapist Cameron Hui on back health; and Michael Bernardo, MS, on the do’s and don’ts of exercise.

Visitors snacked on fresh fruit, granola and other healthy refreshments, enjoyed face painting and balloon animals, and had a special chance to high-five local mascots Rocky Bluewinkle of the Wilmington Blue Rocks; YouDee of the University of Delaware; and J-Bear of radio station WJBR-FM.

Nutrition is a big part of good health, and learning to make good choices while still young is a key factor in improving the health of our community.
