Cathleen Butenewicz appointed clinical director, VNA, New Castle

Cathleen Butenewicz, DNP, has been appointed clinical director of the Christiana Care Visiting Nurse Association of New Castle.

In this role, Butenewicz will lead the overall operations and clinical services for the VNA’s New Castle Home Health Office, including building effective teams, managing implementation of processes and procedures and ensuring clinical best practices.

Butenewicz comes to the Christiana Care VNA with over 29 years of experience in health care.

Most recently, she was director of nursing, Acute Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical System. She has led successful initiatives in improving patient experience, professional development of staff, leadership rounding and quality outcomes.

She was the 2016 recipient of the Harland Graef Community Award in Cecil County, Maryland. This award recognizes an individual who has exemplified dedication to health and wellness in the community.

Butenewicz received her doctorate in Nursing Practice from Capella University and her master of Nursing from Wilmington University. She holds certification as a nurse executive.

She reports to Ann M. Painter, MSN, RN, senior vice president, Christiana Care Home Health & Community Services.
