Janice Nevin receives national recognition as physician leader
Christiana Care President and CEO Janice E. Nevin, M.D., MPH, has received several national recognitions as a health system leader from Becker’s Hospital Review, a leading source of information for health care industry leaders.
On Nov. 23, the publication named Dr. Nevin to its list of 130 Women Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know. She also was recently named among Becker’s 135 Nonprofit Hospital and Health System CEOs to Know and 110 Physician Leaders to Know.
“This national recognition for the quality of our leadership is testimony to the exceptional value Christiana Care brings to our community,” said Doneen Damon, chair of the Christiana Care Board of Directors. “The extraordinary people at Christiana Care are focused on providing optimal health and an exceptional experience to all those we are privileged to serve.”
According to Becker’s, under Dr. Nevin’s leadership “the health system achieved Magnet re-accreditation and is one of only 15 major teaching hospitals in the United States to be named to Truven Health Analytics’ list of Top 100 Hospitals in both 2015 and 2016.”
The Becker’s listings highlight many of Dr. Nevin’s professional accomplishments. Before being named president and CEO in 2014, she held several leadership roles at Christiana Care, including Chief Medical Officer, Chief Patient Safety Officer and Chair of the Department of Family & Community Medicine. The publication notes that Dr. Nevin is the former president of the Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors, was a member of the Project Leadership Committee for the Future of Family Medicine Project and currently serves on the boards of the Delaware Community Foundation and the United Way of Delaware and is a founding member of the Wilmington Leaders Alliance.
