Mitchell T. Saltzberg, M.D., FAHA, FACC

Mitchell T. Saltzberg, M.D., FAHA, FACC, Medical Director of Heart Failure, is now board certified in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology.

Dr. Saltzberg passed the Nov. 8 board examination, which was offered for the first time ever by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is the only cardiologist with this certification in Delaware and one of only 264 in the nation.

Dr. Saltzberg was also appointed associate professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, in September 2010 in recognition of his academic achievements in his field.

Dr. Saltzberg joined Christiana Care’s Center for Heart & Vascular Health in 2007 after distinguished service as a clinician and educator in Illinois, where he led the Heart Failure and Pulmonary Hypertension programs and the Echocardiographic Core Laboratory at Midwest Heart Specialists.

Dr. Saltzberg received his bachelor’s degree with distinction from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in 1992. After finishing Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Chicago in 1995 he completed his cardiology fellowship, and heart failure and transplant cardiology training at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.
