Long-term use of dual antiplatelets for the secondary prevention of atherothrombotic events in patients with and without mi: meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
The potential benefit of long-term dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) for secondary prevention of atherothrombotic events is unclear. Data from different randomized controlled trials (RCT) using different agents in different subgroups showed inconsistent results.
Academic Versus Private Cardiology: Preparing for Successful Career after Fellowship
Cardiovascular diseases are still considered the leading cause of death in the United States. It is estimated that 40% of Americans will experience some form of cardiovascular disease by 2030.
Revascularization vs. Medical Therapy in Stable Ischemic Heart Disease
The keynote COURAGE and BARI-2D trials changed the way the interventional community selects patients for revascularization. What we now consider appropriate, especially for percutaneous coronary intervention, has narrowed significantly in scope compared to previous practice a decade ago.
Clinical Trials Versus Clinical Practice: When Evidence and Practice Diverge--Should Nondiabetic Patients With 3-Vessel Disease and Stable Ischemic Heart Disease Be Preferentially Treated With CABG?
The planning of revascularization strategy for multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD) in nondiabetic patients is optimally made through considering the goals of improving survival and/or relieving symptoms.
