Timothy Manzone, M.D., J.D., CCD — Section Chief, Nuclear Medicine
Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Manzone attended Haverford College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He practiced law for several years, but finally concluded he could contribute more to society and achieve greater personal satisfaction by becoming a physician.
Dr. Manzone embarked on his medical career by taking pre-med classes at Bryn Mawr College where he met his wife, Holly, who was then getting her Ph.D. He graduated from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (now Drexel University College of Medicine) and completed a residency in Medical Imaging at Mercy Catholic Medical Center near Philadelphia. He received fellowship training in nuclear medicine at Temple University Hospital and at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Manzone is medical director for the Christiana Care nuclear medicine department and director of oncologic nuclear medicine at the Christiana Care Helen F. Graham Cancer Center. He is certified by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry. He was recognized as one of Delaware’s “Top Docs” by Delaware Today magazine for the past 3 years.
Dr. Manzone has particular interest in general clinical nuclear medicine, therapeutic procedures, and osteoporosis. Dr. Manzone’s work in the field of bone health furthers his goal of helping Christiana Care bring value and improve health in the community. After learning that nationally only about 20% of adults who have a broken bone are properly evaluated for bone fragility or osteoporosis, Dr. Manzone formed the Christiana Care Bone Health Advisory Committee (BHAC). The BHAC is a group of physicians from multiple departments who are working to raise awareness of bone health issues and implement best practices to evaluate and treat bone fragility at Christiana Care.
When not working in nuclear medicine or on the bone health project, Dr. Manzone enjoys doing home renovation, car and clock repair, listening to live music, and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
