Erin Fender, MD — Structural Heart Disease Cardiology

Erin Fender, MD, MS, FACC, specializes in cardiology and interventional cardiology at ChristianaCare. Dr. Fender earned her medical degree at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency at Oregon Health & Science University, and fellowships in cardiology and interventional and structural cardiology at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Fender holds a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Research from Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

Dr. Fender is board-certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is certified by the National Board of Echocardiography.

A cardiology researcher and educator, Dr. Fender is engaged in educational programs and lecture series, has authored articles and book chapters, served as an invited reviewer for peer-reviewed publications, and presented nationally. She is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and member of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions.

Neil Wimmer, M.D. — Cardiologist

Neil J. Wimmer, M.D., is a cardiologist at Christiana Care Health System. He is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Wimmer is an honors graduate of Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in public policy and biology. He earned his medical degree and completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After achieving his master of science in epidemiology from Harvard University School of Public Health, Dr. Wimmer completed fellowships in peripheral vascular and cardiac structural intervention, interventional cardiology, and cardiovascular disease at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.
