Joseph Bennett, M.D. — Chief, Surgical Oncology
Joseph Bennett, M.D., is chief of Surgical Oncology, co-director of the Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Multidisciplinary Clinic and director of the Melanoma and Sarcoma Multidisciplinary Clinic at ChristianaCare’s Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute. Dr. Bennett’s areas of clinical focus are pancreas, liver, biliary and gastrointestinal oncology, soft tissue sarcoma and melanoma and general surgical oncology.
Dr. Bennett received his medical degree and graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn in 1996, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He is a board certified surgeon and a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, fellow of the American College of Surgeons, member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and the American Association of Physician Leaders.
He is part of the Department of Surgery teaching faculty and is actively engaged in resident teaching and research. Dr. Bennett has many publications and is actively involved in clinical trials, outcomes-based research and translational research, and is adjunct faculty at the Wistar Institute, and runs a clinical program with the University of Delaware Department of Biomedical Engineering.
