Emily Saks, M.D. — Urogynecologist
Emily K. Saks, M.D., MSCE, FACOG, is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and board-certified in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. She is the only fellowship-trained, board-certified female urogynecologist in Delaware and focuses on the surgical management of pelvic organ prolapse and urinary incontinence.
She hails from Central New Jersey and attended Rutgers College and UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick. In 2007 she completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she was recognized for excellence in minimally invasive surgery by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons.
Dr. Saks then joined the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to pursue a fellowship in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. During this time, she received funding from the National Institutes of Health for the investigation of reproductive epidemiology, and she completed a Master of Science in clinical epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
Dr. Saks has presented her original research at multiple national scientific meetings, published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and co-authored book chapters. She is a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at ChristianaCare and has an academic appointment at Drexel University College of Medicine, mentoring both residents and fellows in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery.
