Anna Filip Appointed Family Medicine Residency Program Director, Department of Family & Community Medicine
Anna Filip, M.D., FAAFP, has been named ChristianaCare Family Medicine Residency program director.
In this new role, Filip is responsible for the oversight of family medicine graduate medical education in the Department of Family & Community Medicine, focusing on recruitment and retention, accreditation and innovative curriculum transformation.
Filip has long been committed to serving marginalized communities, maintaining continuity panels at Westside Family Healthcare, as well as gender wellness sessions at the Family Medicine Center at Wilmington Primary Care located in Wilmington Hospital.

She has led work around global health in the academic settings, developed innovative and comprehensive models of gender-affirming care, and is staunchly committed to improving the diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in the department and residency program. She will maintain her gender wellness clinical work at Wilmington Hospital.
Filip has been with ChristianaCare since 2016. She was promoted to associate program Director in 2017, and has served as the residency site director for the Family Medicine Center at Westside Family Healthcare.
Filip earned her medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University and her undergraduate degree from Haverford College. She completed her residency in family and community medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2012. She then completed the Brown University Department of Family Medicine Faculty Development in Global Health Fellowship in 2013 and joined the Brown Family Medicine Residency faculty until 2016.
She reports to Erin Kavanaugh, M.D., FAAFP, chair of Family & Community Medicine.
