Halloween is the perfect time to treat yourself and your little monsters to snacks that are festive, fun and surprisingly healthy. Whether you’re hosting a party or packing lunchbox surprises, these five easy ideas will delight ghosts and goblins of all ages.
Spider Deviled Eggs
Top your favorite deviled egg recipe with a black olive spider. Drain and slice canned olives in two. Use one-half for each body. Slice the extra halves into legs.

Banana Ghosts
Use dark chocolate chips to create a spooky banana ghost! Cut bananas in half crosswise. You can insert a popsicle stick into each half for easier handling if desired. Gently press in chips (mini and regular size) to create eyes and a mouth. Alternatively, use round cereal or raisins for the eyes and mouth.
Nutritional Tip: Bananas are rich in potassium and fiber, perfect for a spooky snack that fuels playtime.
Clementine Pumpkins
These tiny pumpkins are sure to please. Simply peel a clementine (or orange) and poke a small celery stick (or other chosen green vegetable) into the top to resemble pumpkin stems. Alternatively, create a jack o’ lantern by drawing faces with black permanent marker on dry, unpeeled clementines. You may want to sketch faces on them with a pencil before using permanent ink!
Nutritional Tip: Vitamin C-packed and hydrating, these clementine pumpkins are a sweet way to boost immunity.
Spider Crackers
These adorable spiders won’t make anyone shudder. Spread two round whole wheat crackers (or use any round cracker you may have on hand) with a nut butter of your choice or cream cheese. Gently press four pretzel sticks into each side of the bottom cracker and sandwich the two sides together. Use either spread to help adhere “eyes” to the top. We’ve used raisins here, but feel free to use whatever you can find in your pantry. Get creative!
Apple Monster Mouths
Apple wedges are used to create terrifying monster mouths. Cut a wedge and fill with the nut butter of your choice (or cream cheese, if allergies are a concern). Use slivered almonds, sunflower seeds, raisins or mini marshmallows to create jagged teeth. If you are avoiding nuts, try using goji berries, dried bananas or cranberries for teeth. You can even use a strawberry slice for the tongue!
Assembly Tip: To keep the apple slices from turning brown, you can dip them in lemon juice or a solution like Sprite before assembling.
