Emerging Leadership Course Graduates 19 Physicians
Learning opportunity for ChristianaCare Medical-Dental Staff focuses on leadership skills and management practices

Nineteen physicians from the Medical-Dental Staff recently completed a physician leadership development course delivered by ChristianaCare’s Institute for Learning, Leadership and Development (iLEAD).
In a cohort-based learning format, participants completed self-paced learning on topics including health care finance, negotiation, communication and quality and safety, followed by discussion. Course facilitators were Chief Learning officer Tabassum Salam, M.D., MBA and Associate Chief Academic Officer Brian Levine, M.D.
“Many of our physicians are emerging leaders, yet not everyone receives leadership development in the course of their medical training,” said Salam. “Our intention was to purposefully help our physicians acquire leadership skills and management practices to enable them to impact their teams, health outcomes, and ultimately, their patients.”
iLEAD is planning to create another cohort-based physician leadership development program that will launch in late summer.
