Vacunas de COVID Gratis at the Wilmington Hispanic Festival

Alongside the music, food and parade floats at the 2021 Hispanic Festival, ChristianaCare brought doses of good health to the special event in Wilmington, Delaware.

Fifteen caregivers from Community Health, Language Services, the Medical Group and Community Outreach and Education at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute provided free COVID-19 vaccinations and health information. Many of these caregivers or their families and friends are from the Hilltop neighborhood that hosted the event.

“They knew a lot of the neighbors walking around and had really great conversations about the vaccine and their health,” said Carla Aponte Johnson. “It was so special to be able to pay it forward in our own community.”

A message from ChristianaCare caregivers at the Hispanic Festival: “Vacúnese y use su mascarilla .”

Caregivers staffed the ChristianaCare spirit bus and walked around the festival, handing out information and answering questions.

“We really wanted to stress how important it is to get vaccinated and how critical it is to trust the information our health providers share.

“Vacúnese y use su mascarilla.” (“Please get your vaccine and keep your mask on.”)
