Melissa McVaugh appointed administrative director in Perioperative Services

Melissa McVaugh, MS, BSN, IP, CRCST, has been appointed administrative director of centralized sterilization in Perioperative Services.

In this role she has oversight of centralized sterilization services at Christiana Care.

McVaugh joined Christiana Care in 2017 as project manager for centralized sterilization. In that role she successfully enhanced process standardization as well as regulatory compliance within all areas of sterile processing at Christiana Care.

She is a certified sterile processing technician and infection preventionist and has 20 years of health care experience including responsibilities for infection prevention, operating room and sterile processing.

She has a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, a bachelor’s degree in nursing and she is currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration at Wilmington University.

McVaugh reports to Keith Heitz, MTS, LSSMBB, CPhT, corporate director of Perioperative and Surgical Services.
