Pediatric Associates joins Christiana Care’s family of primary care providers
New partnership extends top quality continuum of care with excellence and love for the whole family.
Pediatric Associates, one of the largest, oldest and most trusted names in Delaware pediatrics for the past 65 years, is now part of Christiana Care Health System. Through its new integration with Christiana Care’s extensive network of primary and specialty care services, Christiana Care Pediatric Associates will continue to help parents nurture their children with expert pediatric medical care delivered in a warm, friendly environment.
“Christiana Care’s integration with one of the most trusted Delaware names in pediatric care strengthens the infrastructure that will carry the well-established practice into the future,” said Michael Eppehimer, MHSA, FACHE, chief operating officer of The Medical Group of Christiana Care. “It allows the pediatric team to continue to focus on providing great pediatric care instead of running a busy practice, and it allows the health system to extend top-quality primary care offerings to a larger number of families in our
community.”
The new partnership strengthens the health system’s reach to provide great quality primary care, to integrate services and provide a continuum of care — ambulatory to inpatient care — for the whole family.
“We are doing this to care for one of our most important populations — children — to ensure they stay healthy and get top pediatric care,” said David A. Paul, M.D., chair of Pediatrics.
Because primary care is a keystone to population health and risk-based care, Dr. Paul said that welcoming Pediatric Associates to the Christiana Care family and carrying on the great tradition of their established practice assures that entire families in New Castle County will receive top care.
“It’s about keeping families healthy and providing the best care,” he said.
Established in 1954 by David Levitsky, M.D., today the practice includes five pediatricians — Neal Cohn, M.D., Victoria Levin, M.D., Barbara Light, D.O., Ann Masciantonio, M.D., and Melissa Pe, D.O — and three certified nurse practitioners — Jenny Calhoun, CPNP, Tamara McGillin, CPNP, IBCLC and Jennifer Moncure, CPNP, IBCLC. The team cares for second and likely even third generations of some families.
Dr. Cohn, who joined Pediatric Associates in the early 1980s, said it is always fascinating to see parents come in with their babies and realize he once cared for the parent as a young child.
“We all just love the kids and take great pride in the care we have delivered for many years,” said Dr. Cohn. “Our new partnership with Christiana Care will help us do that as well, or even better.”
