Michael Antunes appointed director of Neonatology

Michael Antunes, M.D., a staff neonatologist at Christiana Care since 1997, has been appointed director of Neonatology, succeeding John Stefano, M.D..

Dr. Antunes has served as associate director of Neonatology since 2013. Previously he served as chair in the Department of Pediatrics of Bayhealth Medical Center – Kent General Hospital.

He received his medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. His residency training took place at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, and his fellowship training in neonatology was at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has been principal or co-principal investigator of several research grants and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed publications.
