Christiana Care Ebola Preparedness

Christiana Care is prepared with protocols in place to safely and effectively care for any patients suspected of contracting Ebola, as well as protect our patients, visitors and employees against infection.

Our triage staff in the emergency departments at Christiana and Wilmington hospitals and at our Middletown facility as well as our staff at Labor & Delivery are screening all patients who might present with Ebola-like symptoms using CDC screening criteria. We are also asking all patients who come to any of our facilities if they have been to West Africa or if they have been in close contact to anyone who has recently come from there. If we suspect a patient is infected with the Ebola virus, we will follow current WHO and CDC guidelines.

We continue to review and update our procedures as information on the Ebola virus changes.
