Cathleen Butenewicz appointed
clinical director, VNA, New Castle
Cathleen Butenewicz, DNP, has been appointed clinical director of the Christiana Care Visiting Nurse Association of New Castle.
In this role, Butenewicz will lead the overall operations and clinical services for the VNA’s New Castle Home Health Office, including building effective teams, managing implementation
of processes and procedures and ensuring clinical best practices.
Butenewicz comes to the Christiana Care VNA with over 29 years of experience in health care.
Most recently, she was director of nursing, Acute Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical System. She has led successful initiatives in improving patient experience, professional development of staff, leadership rounding and quality outcomes.
She was the 2016 recipient of the Harland Graef Community Award in Cecil County, Maryland. This award recognizes an individual who has exemplified dedication to health and wellness in the community.
Butenewicz received her doctorate in Nursing Practice from Capella University and her master of Nursing from Wilmington University. She holds certification as a nurse executive.
She reports to Ann M. Painter, MSN, RN, senior vice president, Christiana Care Home Health & Community Services.
Terri Corbo appointed vice president, Laboratory and Pharmacy Services
Terri Corbo, Pharm.D., MHCDS, FASHP, has been appointed vice president, Laboratory and Pharmacy Services.
In this role Corbo is accountable
for ensuring that the operations of both departments satisfy the needs of patients and the health system while implementing effective growth strategies.
She joined Christiana Care in 1999 as a clinical pharmacy specialist before moving into the leadership role
of director, Clinical Pharmacy Services. In 2011, she was appointed vice president, Pharmacy Services.
She holds bachelor and doctoral degrees from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science as well as a Master of Heath Care Delivery Science from Dartmouth College with concentrations in finance, leadership and quality improvement.
Thanks to her exceptional leadership, Corbo has contributed to or led a number of large-scale projects, such as computerized provider order entry, bar-code medication administration, expansion of the clinical pharmacy program and enrollment in the 340B Federal Drug Discount Program.
She reports to Sharon Kurfuerst, Ed.D, OTR/L, FACHE, FAOTA, chief operating officer.
Keith Heitz appointed corporate director of Perioperative and Surgical Services
Keith Heitz, MTS, LSSMBB, CPhT, has been appointed corporate director of Perioperative and Surgical Services.
In this role Heitz has oversight of quality initiatives, data management and all centralized sterilization services at Christiana Care.
Since joining the health system in 2007, he has become a valued leader. Heitz has more than 20 years of health
care experience including operations leadership, supervisory roles, strategy development and deployment, and continuous quality improvement.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Atlanta Christian College and a Master of Theological Studies from Palmer Seminary. He is currently pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration from Wilmington University.
Heitz reports to Judy Townsley, MSN, CPAN, NEA-BC, FACHE, vice president of Perioperative Services.
Marvin J.H. Lee appointed clinical ethicist
Marvin J.H. Lee, Ph.D., M.Div., MPS, has been appointed clinical ethicist for Christiana Care.
In this role, Dr. Lee will lead
clinical ethical services, providing consultation, policy review, education, academic research and support to clinicians, patients and families.
He also will assume a leadership
role to promote health care practices consistent with high ethical standards and help to shape a culture of
relationship-based care.
Before coming to Christiana Care, Dr. Lee served as bioethics consultant at the Institute of Clinical Bioethics at Saint Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, engaging in services such as consultation, teaching rounds, policy review, graduate program development, and leading interdisciplinary faculty research.
