Christiana Care launched one of the most ambitious flu vaccination events in its history on Oct. 11th, when the organization attempted to vaccinate as many employees as possible against influenza.
Playing off the popular Pat Benetar song, the event, dubbed #HitMeWithYourFluShot, encouraged all employees eligible for the shot to get it.
In total, more than 7,800 employees in 70-plus locations in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey received the flu shot — which resulted in an incredible 65 percent success rate.
During the event, WJBR broadcasted live from Christiana Hospital, bringing their J. Bear mascot in tow while Wilmington Blue Rocks Mascot Rocky Bluewinkle greeted employees at Wilmington Hospital.
Nearly 20 media outlets covered the event, including NBC National News. A glowing front-page story on the effort appeared in The News Journal while TV outlets throughout the country highlighted #HitMeWithYourFluShot.
