| Events 2019 NICU reunion celebrates, happy healthy children
Dozens of families turned out for a monster of a party at the annual Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) reunion on May 18 at Christiana Hospital. The joyous event, with a wildly friendly monster theme, celebrated the happy, healthy children who began their lives as preemies or with other health challenges in their first days or weeks. Parents and caregivers traded warm hugs and shared memories while the kids raced around to blow bubbles, twirl in Hula-Hoops, ham it up in the photo booth and eat up monster-themed treats.
Christiana Care operates the only Level III NICU — the highest level of capability — at a delivering hospital in Delaware. More than 6,000 babies are born at Christiana Hospital each year. A new Center for Women & Children’s Health, featuring a state-of-the-art NICU, will open at Christiana
Hospital in 2020. 
Every year more than 6,000 babies are born at Christiana Hospital.
