In health care —
everything.
| We Serve Together
 What’s love got to do with it?
 With an audience of nearly 700 health care professionals, Dr. Nevin was among the keynote presenters at the Becker’s conference that included other health care industry leaders and George W. Bush, 43rd U.S. president and founder of the George W. Bush Presidential Center;
Bill Clinton, 42nd U.S. president and founder of the Clinton Foundation; and Katie Couric, news anchor, producer and documentarian.
Dr. Nevin’s presentation “What’s Love Got to Do with Health Care?” centered on love — a deep appreciation of the value and importance of another person — as the driver of the highest quality, most compassionate and most innovative health care.
Drawing on Christiana Care’s values: “We serve together, guided by our values of Excellence and Love,” Dr. Nevin shared
her insight on health care leadership, meaningful patient interactions and what health care providers and leaders need to do to achieve excellence in health care.
“I truly believe love is the ultimate disruptor — the difference maker, the force for good in the health care industry,” she said. “Love is what drives us to do the really hard things — the necessary things.”
While advances in health care may be powered by innovation and technology, their use should support “greater human- to-human interaction,” Dr. Nevin said.
At its core, health care is about a relationship between human beings. It is not simply a transactional relationship, where one person purchases services that another person provides, she said
“Health care is a partnership that, at its very best, makes each person in that partnership feel loved.” 
“I truly believe love is the ultimate disruptor — the difference maker, the force for good in
the health care industry.”
